We went to a very enjoyable Gordon Bok (folk music) concert last night. We met a long-time friend there, and when we did the “how are you?” catching up, this is what he said:
Gratitude, a sneak preview of a recently completed art piece
I used to say I have good days and bad days—ups and downs–but I decided I’m not going to do that anymore. Instead, I’m going to think about how the Earth goes around the sun in an elliptical shape, and sometimes we’re just farther away from the sun. It always gets closer and brighter again.
So I am soaking in his cosmic wisdom and passing it on to you! How are you in the cosmos?
That’s a lot of wisdom. I love thinking of life that way instead of ups and downs and good and bad. Beautifully said! I enjoyed a concert on Friday night…music is definitely in the air.
I love that perspective. Life is full of ups and downs and all of it is ultimately good!
Janet, What an intriguing way to look at our variations. This came to me from reading your entry: And sometimes when we are farther from the sun, a friend or a loved one puts their arms around us to keep us warm. One of the wisest people in my life will say, “Mom, I need a hug NOW.” Btw, I love your colorful sneak peak. Your stitches are so perfect. And with that color, it wouldn’t matter if they were crooked.

Love this! I’ve come to know this as waxing and waning and learning not to beat myself up when I’m waxing thinking I should be waning and when I am waning thinking I should be waxing.
